Nelson Mathematics 11 Electronic Teacher's Resources

INTRODUCTION

With the purchase of the print version of the Nelson Mathematics 11 Teacher's Resource, you have also purchased access to two forms of electronic support:

·        the Online Teacher's Resource

·        the Teacher's Resource CD-ROM

The design and content of these electronic resources is very similar. By clicking on any given section in the Table of Contents, you will have access to electronic versions of a wide variety of support material designed to facilitate the instruction of that section.

In both the online and CD-ROM versions, that support material includes:

·        student text pages, in read-only (Adobe Acrobat) format

·        teaching notes for every section, in read-only format

·        blackline masters, in both read-only and word-processed formats

·        assessment tools (rubrics and checklists), in both read-only and word-processed formats

·        answers and solutions, in read-only format

·        interactive examples

The Online Teacher's Resource also includes Web Challenge activities and Internet links to useful sites.

USING THE CD-ROM

The CD-ROM is intended for use by one person at a time on one computer at a time. It provides stand-alone access to most of the electronic support available online. For broader access, use of the Online Teacher's Resource is recommended. Use of the CD-ROM indicates acceptance of the terms outlined in the License Agreement, included on this CD-ROM.

  1. Insert the Teacher's Resource disc into your CD-ROM drive.
  2. Double-click the CD-ROM icon. (For Windows users, this is found in My Computer.)

Navigation

The content on this CD-ROM is organized according to the Table of Contents of the Print Teacher’s Resource. When you open the electronic Teacher’s Resource, you will find the Table of Contents in the left-hand frame. Clicking on a section title will open a list of related resources in the right-hand frame that are designed to support the instruction of that section. Clicking on a resource in the right-hand frame opens the desired file.

All print-based files can be viewed, printed and saved to your hard drive. Some files (in particular blackline masters) can be modified if you are using word-processing software that is compatible with Microsoft Word 6.0/95, Corel Wordperfect 6.0 and/or ClarisWorks 4.0.

To access modifiable files, you must first open the related Adobe Acrobat file. This is a read-only file that will enable you to print a version of the file that is identical to the version in the print Teacher’s Resource. This file is linked to modifiable files that can be saved and edited on your own computer.

USING THE ON-LINE TEACHER'S RESOURCE

Gaining Secure Access

With the purchase of the print version of the Teacher's Resource, your school has also purchased access to the On-line Teacher's Resource for every teacher in the school using Nelson Mathematics 11.

Because there is material on this site that is not intended for student use, we have designed a secure four-step process that each user must use in order to gain access:

1.      Go to www.OTR11.nelson.com and complete the registration form in order to receive your user id and password. To indicate that your school has purchased the print version of the Teacher's Resource, you will need to use the following Access Code: NM11OTR01.

2.      You will receive a telephone call from a Nelson Thomson Learning representative confirming that you did in fact register for a user id and password.

3.      Once your registration has been confirmed by telephone, your user id and password will be emailed to you.

4.      Go to www.nmOTR11.nelson.com and enter your user id and password for secure access to the On-line Teacher's Resource.
